Considered one of the best things to do in Chengdu, visiting the Giant Panda Breeding center is also eco-friendly. The site supports conservation and environmental education, and there are red pandas, black swans, and more in addition to the main attraction. It is best to go in the early morning (7:30am) to see the pandas do more than just sleep. The site is very instructive.
